Colourblast - Explore Hobbiton

Hi everyone!

I have a couple of different techniques for you to look at today - one I have used quite a few times in the past, and one I wanted to see if it worked on inks the way it does for watercolours, and I was very happy with it!

Here's my page....

As I wanted the inks just to be on the central panel, I used some washi tape to mask this off, then brushed on Colour Artist Inks in Marine, Oasis and Grass. I used watercolour paper to work on.

While it was still wet, I sprinkled some table salt and a couple of larger chunks of rock salt on to it, then left it to dry. When I came back to it, it was amazing to see how much the salt had absorbed the ink. I carefully brushed it off with a soft dry brush.

It looks like little snowflakes!

For my chipboard, I painted it with White Heavy Gesso first...

 

 The vines I embossed with Colour Embossing Powder in Envy, and the fence I stippled with two coats of Colour Paste in Sienna.

I also knew I wanted to create some vines, so I filled some syringes with both the Sienna Colour Paste once again, as well as some Bling, then scribbled out some swirly lines. You can let them dry on a messy mat and they'll lift right off, or straight on to your desk like me if it's glass 😉 Make sure they're really dry before you try lifting them.

Finally time to assemble all the elements!

I used a We R happy jig to make the wire title, as well as some flowers from my stash. The tag was made with the same technique as the main part of the page, but I substituted Colour Artist Ink in Lime for the Grass.

Colourblast - December Story

Merry Xmas everybody!

I hope everyone is having a totally magic day, and that Santa has been very good to you all 🎅

Our poor little cat in this page - I had to scrap it though!

I started with some plain Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock, and I used a little Kaisercraft stencil along with White Heavy Gesso.

Once I had done that in a few places and it was dry, I thinned down some Colour Artist Inks in Lime, Grass, Sunburnt, and Cranberry. I brushed it on here and there randomly, without overlapping. It wouldn't have made a great colour if they had mixed.

I had some cute little chipboard Xmas trees, but I didn't have the embossing powders I wanted handy, so instead I stippled them with Colour Paste in Apple of My Eye, Envy and finally Bling.

Time to put everything together! I mostly used some Pinkfresh paper and ephemera I had from last year. 

Of course then I had to add a few gold splatters, so I used the Colour Shimmer Brush Marker; I also used it to colour just the edges of the wood veneers.

Colourblast - Not Bovvered

Happy New Year everyone!

For my first page this year I tried something I hadn't previously - using alcohol with the Colour Shimmer Dust - here's how it turned out...

I used Colour Shimmer Dust in Passion, Velvet, Lollipop and Midnight, plus a little Colour Artist Ink in Cider. I randomly painted these on to some Yupo paper.

                 

                 

I then sprayed alcohol over the the paint and watched the magic begin! I couldn't take a photo as I had to work quickly, blotting if needed with a paper towel, re-applying and spraying again.

Once it was dry, I diecut it into hexagons.

While I was waiting, I painted some chipboard with Black Heavy Gesso (I didn't end up using the circles)

For my background, I thinned the Colour Shimmer Dust in Passion down a bit more and used the packaging technique to apply it to the page. I laid out my hexes, and stamped and splattered to grunge it up a bit.

Time to add the photo and embellies!

Colourblast - Shine Bright

Today I've gone to the dark side.....dark paper that is😁

I have a bundle of Colour Pastes I used in this one. All the warms, plus purple and gold to weld it all together 😍
In all I used Apple of my Eye, Bling, Fire Engine, Royalty, Sunshine and Tangareen Dream.

I spread some directly on to cardstock with my palette knife and stamped with some script and background stamps while it was still wet. I stamped directly into the paste, then on to the cardstock to stamp the excess off. I only did 2-3 colours at a time and dried them off before moving on to the next colours.

  

Loved how it looked once it was all dry!

Then I used my Gold Shimmer Brush Marker to colour my chipboard,  but I found it wasn't quite gold enough,  so I also used the Colour Shimmer cube in Bling to strengthen it. It was sunny while I was doing it and I kept getting distracted by how beautifully the paint sparkled in the sun.

I also used the same pen to splatter a little around the edges of my background mainly, but also a little on top of the dry pastes.

When I was adding my photo it was hard to know where to put it so as not to cover it too much!

So this is what it ended up like...
