Colourblast - Be True to you

Hello all!

I have a quick project for you here today.

Here's a little preview..😉 

I started out with a couple of my favourite Colour Artist Inks  - Spice and Cranberry. I thinned them down a lot as I wanted a watercolour look.

I combined them to get the colour I wanted, then smooshed them on to my cardstock.

The next step was to mix a little Colour Artist Ink in Mermaid in with some moulding paste and apply it through a stencil.

Before it dried I dropped a little Bling Colour Embossing Powder on to the paste, then heated it to activate it at the same time as drying the paste.

After that I used some papers from my stash to put the whole page together...

See? Told you it was a quick one today! 

Sometimes we need to just not overthink things...

Colourblast - Sweet Little Sucker

Hi all you crafty people!

My latest layout started out as a grid pattern, but I just couldn't bear to cover too much of the background 😁

Here's a wee taste...just look at that sparkle!

I used Colour Artist Inks to tint some Heavy White Gesso, starting with Oasis. I brayered a section with this, applying it quite heavily as I wanted to create some texture with it.

I added some Colour Shimmer Dust in Peacock, and mixed it a little, but not fully so there would be some striations. 

For the pink parts of the grid, I used Slipper Colour Artist Ink and Lollipop Colour Shimmer Dust. 

After that, I used plain Heavy White Gesso through a stencil for added texture.

As a final touch for the background, I splattered a little of the clear Colour Shimmer Marker ❤

I put everything together using some Cocoa Vanilla that was on my desk. I so love this photo of my great niece!

Colourblast - A beautiful moment captured

I have an great new page for you today - I'm so in love with it!!

What do you think so far?

I started off with Colour Artist Inks in Sunburnt and Cranberry, both of which I thinned down with so much water as I only wanted a pale colour to match the colour of my cut file. I applied it on the diagonal using smooshing and drips initially, then a brush to draw it out a little. 

I grabbed my Colour Shimmer Powder in Navy and mixed it with water, and lightly brushed some towards the edges of where the cut file was going.

I had some left over, so I dragged a flower mask through the mix and stamped with it here and there. 

At this stage I felt it would be a little strong still, so I drybrushed some Heavy White Gesso very lightly over it with a fan brush. I loved how that worked!

The last part of my background was a thin coat of Blush Colour Paste through a stencil at 3 different points.

I added my cut file, photos and embellies then, all except the bow was Cocoa Vanilla Midnight collection.

Jet Setter

Hello to all my foxy friends, I have a layout to share with you today using some of the wonderful travel themed perspextives ✈

My daughter recently left to study for six months in Denmark - the other side of the world from us waaay down south in New Zealand...but it's so exciting for her, and she's really hoping for a white Xmas 🤞

I snapped this photo just before she left (and before I started the tears!) which will be the first of many she has shared with me.

The Jet Setter title was just perfect - she's doing a bit of sightseeing wile she's away of course!

I'm really going to need to refresh my supply of these cute little globes as well...

I teamed them up with a cut file from Confessions of a Paper Addict and the Out and About collection from Pinkfresh - the colours are perfect together 💚💙

This was a really fun layout to put together, I hope it gives you some inspiration ...see you next time!

Don't box me in

I recently taught this Art Journal page as a class at a retreat for my local scrapbook store - The Paper Teapot😊

Although I'm relatively new to art journalling, I love that you can't make mistakes - what happens, happens...

 I started by covering my journal pages with White Heavy Gesso - you may not need this step, but my journal is an old book I picked up from the second hand book store.

Then I added some Light paste through a stencil, and let it dry thoroughly.

I sprayed the pages with water, then dripped Colour Artist Ink on it and let it run - I used Lime, Mermaid, Grass, Oasis and Calypso.

I also used Colour Artist Ink in Marine, but but only used very little of this as it's such a strong colour.

Next I stamped some squares and a large Carabelle Art stamp with Black archival ink. I also stamped a few more squares of varying sizes with navy and turquoise archival inks.

I then went back over the area I wanted to be the face with the White Heavy Gesso - I was happy to let some of the background still come through. I also shaded some of the squares with this.

I used an aquarelle pencil, Distress crayons and a black Posca pen to shade and outline the face.

The lips were highlighted to give some fullness with Colour Paste in Punch.

Then I stamped some sentiment stamps with archival ink...

At that stage I decided she needed flowers, so added them in the same way as the face...

Time for the title; and finally I mixed some Colour Mica Powder in Olive Grove with string gel, and dribbled some lines to make some crosses...

I also added some tears to my girl with the clear Colour Shimmer Brush Marker {and a few spatters - I just can't help myself with those pens!!)

Sketchabilities 154: Puss Patch

Time for another Kitty Cat page!

This time it's Patch - beautiful photo courtesy of Shiloh 😃

With this patterned paper from Pretty Little Studio's Savannah Dreams the page came together so quickly! I just added a little pink ink from Colour Blast Australia 💗 I just can't get enough of these hearts from Charm Creations either - aren't they pretty? Luckily I still had a perspextive to add to the bottom too.

Sooo pleased with the outcome 😁

Colour Blast Australia - It takes Sunshine and Rain

Today I have what looks like a relatively clean page, but in reality there are a rainbow of  Colour Artist Inks in behind the cut file.

This cut file is available through Paper Issues (Stitching Heart Burst).

Once I had cut the file, I used embroidery thread in rainbow colours to stitch the lines that radiate out from the centre

I then lined the cut file up with the second layer of card and drew some guidelines so I knew where to paint...

I used Colour Artist Inks in this order to create the rainbow

Citrus

Spice

Sunburnt

Cranberry

Slipper

Bordeaux

Marine

Calypso

Mermaid

Grass

Lime

 I could then put the cut file back on top for this awesome look 💓

 

I spattered a little of each ink again on the top layer, which you can see in these close ups..

I also used Colour Artist Ink in Grass to stain the wooden leaf.

Here's the finished layout - just a few Pretty Little Studio embellies with the photo and calling it done!

CSI: Color Stories Inspiration 263; This is Real Life

Welcome Scrappy friends!

Bre's boyfriend loves taking photos where there are interesting light plays - she just happened to be in the frame this time lol

This month CSI partnered with Page Maps and we were invited to join in with a sketch as well...

Here's the sketch, and the challenge...

And here's my take on it...

 It was great using a different background this time, I'm usually a white plus mixed media kinda girl 😉 I used Pinkfresh "A Case of the Blahs" for the papers and embellies, as well as a couple of stars from Cocoa Vanilla. I did take a bit of artistic licence with the colours in the mood board and brightened them a little.

I love how it turned out though, hope you do too!
