Sketchabilities 154: Puss Patch

Time for another Kitty Cat page!

This time it's Patch - beautiful photo courtesy of Shiloh 😃
Here's the sketch
With this patterned paper from Pretty Little Studio's Savannah Dreams the page came together so quickly! I just added a little pink ink from Colour Blast Australia 💗 I just can't get enough of these hearts from Charm Creations either - aren't they pretty? Luckily I still had a perspextive to add to the bottom too.

Sooo pleased with the outcome 😁

CSI: Color Stories Inspiration challenge 260 - Cousin Love

This is a pretty old photo but the girls were just SOOOO cute back then!

Jess and Shiloh were the best of buddies, always wanting to hang out together - at least until someone got hurt!

I though it was the perfect photo for this CSI challenge, I concentrated mostly on the blue, with just a few pops of the other colours. I also picked out the floral of the dress, the camera, and the gold.

There's still plenty of time to join in!

Sketchabilities 152 - "Slim"

This dog was one of the most gentle giants ever, we still miss him, even though he wasn't ours 💔

"Be careful, I wouldn't trust him with the kids" warned Mum when we first met him, In the end, we would have trusted him with a newborn. He just loved to be part of things, leaning up against you for a scratch (even if he nearly pushed Shiloh right over the first time, he was nearly as tall as her!)

He was Jamie and Phil's first racing greyhound, and his race name was Alabama Wildman, but we all knew him as Slim, which so suited him. When he first moved to the farm in his retirement, it was outside only, then maybe the garage, and eventually inside. I wouldn't have been surprised if he ended up in bed with Phil too 😀

This layout is for the Sketchabilities Design Team, using a Paper Issues free cut file, Colourblast Australia Artist Inks, and Cocoa Vanilla Ephemera (plus a few things from my stash)

Here's the sketch...
I moved the cluster down by flipping the sketch....

Love the way it turned out!

Things Are Looking Up!

Another page for a Hip Kit weekly sketch challenge 😁

I just knew I wanted to use the Vicki Boutin acrylics for my background, and I stuck fairly close to the sketch for the rest...
Love this little bunch 💓

So Happy Together

This is a just for fun page I made for a Hip Kit challenge - here's the sketch

And here's the layout

 The kids were such cuties back then, and used to love playing with Shenae and Jessie just down the road 💖

Magenta Hair - Dont Care

Bre is just like her Mum - I also remember dressing as Magenta, hers was to go to a Halloween party, and she even convinced her boyfriend at the time, Aaron, to dress as Riff Raff 😜

This is my last layout for the Scrap Our Stash Design Team, I'm sad to leave these lovely people but it's time to let someone else have a go, and to do something new myself also!

Here's the blend a sketch challenge...

I added the vertical element from the right sketch with Colourblast inks, and I also used the title placement from here. I used the photo size and placement from the left hand sketch. The stars are from Charm Creations - I just love them

Good Life

Hi I'm back again with a layout for the June Scrap Our Stash Golden Globe challenge.
This movie refers to a father and his son, so I thought since DH has only daughters, I would scrap a photo of them in their happy place They both love to bike, so this huge bike near Lake Taupo was the perfect spot.

I kept the page fairly simple, with just a few splashes of Colourblast ink at the end.
For the additional challenge, I used...
F = Flair, flower
A = Amy Tan, arrow
T = twine
H = heart
E = Epoxy stickers
R = Rub on

21 Renfrew Street

I found this great photo of the first house I lived in, my Dad built it straight after the war when size and material restrictions were still in place. So many memories of that place (both good and bad!) Sleepin in Mum and Dads room when I was sick, finding Santa presents under the bed in the spare room (oops) the toilet that the night cart used to pick up out in the outdoor wash house, and the yummy gooseberries growing out the back.

This page was also from the May kit from The Paper Teapot, along with a cut file from the Hip Kit which I coloured with Artist Inks from Colourblast Australia.

Laugh Out Loud

This was down at the Waikawa Bay waterfront near Picton, at the start of our holiday in January this year. It was a beautiful night, and not spoilt by the "party" at the table next to us, even if they did drop both sunglasses and a phone over the side of the wharf, and later vomited 😬 At least we weren't eating when that happened! An eventful night lol.

I wanted to try and kill my May 2017 Hip Kit before the 2018 version arrived, but although I did used quite a bit, there is STILL some left!

I used my current fave technique of semi random washes of colour under cut files. This is a great free file from Paper Issues.

Laugh Out Loud

This photo was taken at the start of our last holiday, down at the Marina at Waikawa Bay. The group of young people at the table next to us had been there drinking all afternoon, so were quite "merry". While we were there, first a pair of sunnies, then a cell phone went over the side of the wharf 😲

  I made this page at a recent crop day - I thought I really needed to use up my May 2017 Hip Kit before the 2018 one arrived! I also used a Paper Issues cut file, with Prima watercolours underneath.

How to Cat

Well I had to do a layout of our little lion for this challenge - well at least she thinks that's what she is sometimes! I just love how this photo shows her cute little pink paw pads
It was pretty easy to find cat embellies for this, but I kept it to a single flair and the cat button that's part of the charm.

But look! No mixed media at all! So unusual for me, but nice for a change 😉
Here's the challenge...
Not too hard for all you pet lovers out there!

I love the way this one turned out 💗😺💗

Huka Falls

Taupo is such a great holiday spot - so many things to see and do...

This page started out as an experiment, layering watercolours on with a brayer and building up colour. I then realised I hadn't left much in the way of white space, so I added tissue to break it up. I also used the swipe on swipe off technique through a new fave stencil (feel like the Karate Kid - Wax on, wax off 😁😁😁). I also used some Colourblast paste to make string as well as stencilling.
The embellies are mostly Vicki Boutin, plus a beautiful Charm I've been waiting for the right place for.

Hope you love it as much as I do!

Good Vibes

I have had the background for this layout waiting for ages for the right photos, and these were nice and bright, so made the grade 😁
The Café L'Arte was full of this oversized mosaic furniture, which reminded us greatly of Dr Seuss, and Breanna was quite happy to pose on it!
The background is Prima Watercolours, and I used various Hip Kits for my layers (mostly Crate Paper Good Vibes), and a stack of Vicki Boutin ephemera . I entered this In the Hip Kit Club sketch challenge for the week beginning April 13th 😜

Life is Good

I took this photo as the absolute epitome of a relaxing day - lying on the beach, blue skies, warm sun and the sound of seagulls and waves 🌞🌞🌞

This is for the April Scrap Our Stash Movie challenge, and the movie this month is "UP"
Once I had chosen the cloud cut file (thanks Nicole) I had the idea to use Colourblast Artist Inks with loose brushstrokes as the background, and I love how it came out 💖

So pop on over tp the Scrap Our Stash blog for more details and have a go!

One of the Family

I just love using these colours together, and the February Hip Kit provided the perfect papers and embellishments 💖
Distress oxides are amazing and so simple to use, one of my favourite techniques at the moment is to lay a cut file over mixed media blends...
And what a great combo of ephemera, stickers, puffys, and epoxy flowers, hearts, birds, and bugs also!

This is the full layout...

which is a blend of these 2 sketches for the March challenge at Scrap Our Stash 😄

Happy Moments

Will I ever finish scrapping photos of these two? I hope not, I hope their friendship continues for many years yet 💖💖💖

This is for the March stash challenge at Scrap Our Stash - to use the movie "Happy Go Lucky" as inspiration, plus an emoji from your stash.

Amy Tan's collections are always so happy so it was a no-brainer to use her phemera for this page.

And look!! No multimedia - no inks, sprays, pastes - nit even a solitary Nuvo drop!! So different from my usual, but a change is as good as a holiday 😉😉

Love Out Loud

Wow - I only just took this photo last week and it's scrapped already!!
Mark is just a big kid always hiding and jumping out at us when we are on holiday.

This was at Cafe LÁrte in Taupo - loved all the mosaic furniture 💓

This page is for the SCrap Our Stash February Stash challenge, to use the movie "Love Actually" as the inspiration, include the word "Love" in the title, and use twine.

I  mostly used the October 17 Hip Kit which was full of Pinkfresh Goodness, and Colourblast Australia Artist's Inks and Colour Pastes for the layering.

Thanks for visiting!

Peace Out

I don't think this is the first time I've scrapped this photo, but it just makes me so happy!

 This was for a DT assignment for the new challenges...

I found this a bit of a challenge to be honest - but then again, they're supposed to be! I guess it'll get easier the more I do 😉
From the first sketch I used the idea of a semi circle (the shape of the flower garland) with the title around it, and from the second sketch I used the larger square (photo) and 3 smaller ones (the banner).
I also used flower rhinestones between the banner flags, and in each corner.

I used a mix of Shimmerz and Prima watercolours for the background, and most of the paper and embellies were from the September 17 Hip Kit. I love those little suede bows and all the Paige Evans paper and ephemera 😍

Winter is Coming

I'm really not a winter fan, except it gives me more time to read some of my favorite books!
Winter is Coming is the motto of House Stark, one of the families on which Game of Thrones is centred, so I documented my love of this series on my page 😄

This is for the new type Scrap Our Stash challenge, here 'tis...

This new 7dots paper range was perfect for it, I just added a little white paint, Colourblast shimmer and paste (with a Tim Holtz stencil) and a few diecut snowflakes. "winter" was a Lorilei Murphy cut file from  Hip Kit Club. The wolf head was a clip art that I fussy cut.

Thanks for the look!

A Handmade Xmas

Before I started scrapbooking I was a ceramic teacher and product rep for Duncan Enterprises. I loved the opening of the kiln to see what surprises there may be (and the occasional disaster) but I sold the studio when Bre was a baby. I continued making things for sale from home for some time after that though. Mum used to come and look after the girls for me once a week so that I could do it.

Blinkin' earthquakes meant that I don't have very much left of the things I made, but my Xmas things were bubble wrapped so mainly kept okay through the first few, although a couple of chips appeared on the nativity after the December 2011 one. Not too bad though.

This is the last sketch from Scrap our Stash for the year

It's always fun to play along with sketches, and this one is no exception
For the stash I used
P - Pinkfresh, puffy stickers
E - Ephemera
A - Amy Tan bow, Alphas
C - Cut file, chipboard and Colourblast ink
E - Enamel dots

Have a great Xmas, and I'll catch you in the New Year!
