CSI: Color Stories Inspiration 262 - Cat's Whiskers

I have conflicting feelings about this furbaby - of course I love her but she drives me to distraction sometimes!!!
She is so contrary, paranoid, evil and smoochy all at the same time! She hates her sister, hisses at her all the time but give her space to herself and she can be so lovable!

I just had to use this for the current CSI challenge...

I used the Happy Cat as a theme, and then used so many of the elements as well - the vibrant pink yellow and green, the black and white stripes, the bee, flowers, a swirl, and a great heart from Charm Creations.

Most of the embellies are from Pretty Little Studio, except for the acrylics which are Bramble Fox.

The leaf and swirl are some VERY old rub ons I found in my stash (Making Memories I think?)  - always good to use something you just rediscover!

Come on over and join in the fun!

So Happy Together

This is a just for fun page I made for a Hip Kit challenge - here's the sketch

And here's the layout

The kids were such cuties back then, and used to love playing with Shenae and Jessie just down the road 💖

Good Life

Hi I'm back again with a layout for the June Scrap Our Stash Golden Globe challenge.
This movie refers to a father and his son, so I thought since DH has only daughters, I would scrap a photo of them in their happy place They both love to bike, so this huge bike near Lake Taupo was the perfect spot.

I kept the page fairly simple, with just a few splashes of Colourblast ink at the end.
For the additional challenge, I used...
F = Flair, flower
A = Amy Tan, arrow
T = twine
H = heart
E = Epoxy stickers
R = Rub on

Be fabulous

My gorgeous little great-niece Leah actually looking quite girly for a change!!

I used Sketchabilities #146 for this, changing 2 of the photos over to Pink Paislee quotes.
I used Distress Oxides under my  Just Nick die cut rather than using paper to back it - one of my favourite techniques at the moment 💓

The title and stars Shimelles Glitter Girl and added just enough bling!

Life is Good

I took this photo as the absolute epitome of a relaxing day - lying on the beach, blue skies, warm sun and the sound of seagulls and waves 🌞🌞🌞

This is for the April Scrap Our Stash Movie challenge, and the movie this month is "UP"
Once I had chosen the cloud cut file (thanks Nicole) I had the idea to use Colourblast Artist Inks with loose brushstrokes as the background, and I love how it came out 💖

So pop on over tp the Scrap Our Stash blog for more details and have a go!

One of the Family

I just love using these colours together, and the February Hip Kit provided the perfect papers and embellishments 💖
Distress oxides are amazing and so simple to use, one of my favourite techniques at the moment is to lay a cut file over mixed media blends...
And what a great combo of ephemera, stickers, puffys, and epoxy flowers, hearts, birds, and bugs also!

This is the full layout...

which is a blend of these 2 sketches for the March challenge at Scrap Our Stash 😄

Happy Moments

Will I ever finish scrapping photos of these two? I hope not, I hope their friendship continues for many years yet 💖💖💖

This is for the March stash challenge at Scrap Our Stash - to use the movie "Happy Go Lucky" as inspiration, plus an emoji from your stash.

Amy Tan's collections are always so happy so it was a no-brainer to use her phemera for this page.

And look!! No multimedia - no inks, sprays, pastes - nit even a solitary Nuvo drop!! So different from my usual, but a change is as good as a holiday 😉😉

Peace Out

I don't think this is the first time I've scrapped this photo, but it just makes me so happy!

This was for a DT assignment for the new challenges...

I found this a bit of a challenge to be honest - but then again, they're supposed to be! I guess it'll get easier the more I do 😉
From the first sketch I used the idea of a semi circle (the shape of the flower garland) with the title around it, and from the second sketch I used the larger square (photo) and 3 smaller ones (the banner).
I also used flower rhinestones between the banner flags, and in each corner.

I used a mix of Shimmerz and Prima watercolours for the background, and most of the paper and embellies were from the September 17 Hip Kit. I love those little suede bows and all the Paige Evans paper and ephemera 😍

A Handmade Xmas

Before I started scrapbooking I was a ceramic teacher and product rep for Duncan Enterprises. I loved the opening of the kiln to see what surprises there may be (and the occasional disaster) but I sold the studio when Bre was a baby. I continued making things for sale from home for some time after that though. Mum used to come and look after the girls for me once a week so that I could do it.

Blinkin' earthquakes meant that I don't have very much left of the things I made, but my Xmas things were bubble wrapped so mainly kept okay through the first few, although a couple of chips appeared on the nativity after the December 2011 one. Not too bad though.

This is the last sketch from Scrap our Stash for the year

It's always fun to play along with sketches, and this one is no exception
For the stash I used
P - Pinkfresh, puffy stickers
E - Ephemera
A - Amy Tan bow, Alphas
C - Cut file, chipboard and Colourblast ink
E - Enamel dots

Have a great Xmas, and I'll catch you in the New Year!

Keep Calm....

These were the most humongous doughnuts I had ever seen - I managed to eat about an eighth of one. They were from Lard Lad, at Springfield USA  - home of The Simpsons. Now we know why Homer drools when he hears the D word!!

This was for a DT page at SCrap Our Stash - the October Tic Tac Toe. I used the bottom row. Here's the challenge...

You & Me - so Fab together

Hi everyone  - I hope your month is going well!

We don't have that many photos of just the 2 of us, this one was taken at Jester House on the coastal route between Nelson and Motueka. The gardens are gorgeous and worth a visit, even if you don't have time for a delish Devonshire tea 😋🍰

This new layout was done for this month's Tic Tac Toe challenge at Scrap Our Stash

Here's the challenge...
I used red, hearts and mixed alpha title.

I made the background just by layering distress inks Tim Holtz style, stamping, stencilling 3d gel and then a bit more stamping. I would usually use black somewhere in the mix but decided I wanted to keep the colours a bit "clearer" so the darkest I went was navy.

The papers and embellies are all either Amy Tan or Cocoa Vanilla.

Don't forget to give it a go!

Lucky to have good friends

These photos were taken at one of our favourite playgrounds on Shiloh's birthday. She's had the same friends since she was little and I think they will always be her besties 😁

This page was for the Scrap Our Stash January sketch challenge -

You also must include something starting with each letter from G-O-A-L-S, my list is
G - Geotag (love these by Charm Creations!)
O - Orange
A - Arrows and Amy Tangerine
L - Letter stickers and layers
S - Stickers, stencil

I bought one sheet of this orange Bella Blvd paper and the stickers, and couldn't wait to use it as it's so bright and lovely! Apart from that there's a Cocoa Vanilla flair, and some Amy Tan stickers. The background was done with Tim Holtz Distress crayons and Prima light paste.

Thanks for the look!

New Do

Okay, so it's an old do now, but man what a change when Shiloh first got her hair cut!

From super long, to shoulder length it now sits about halfway between these two and she's happy with that :)

This is my page for the Scrap Our Stash mid November challenge, here's the sketch and lists...

I used Amy Tan Better together collection, ScrapFX and Blue Fern chipboard along with Cocoa Vanilla flair and enamel dots.

Hope you like it!

What's your sign?

Hi all, This is my most recent layout created for the November 1st Scrap Our Stash challenge.
I've been meaning to do a layout about star signs for both my girls since they were little but never quite got there, so this was the perfect time...and how do you like my photo?!? Just as well looks can't kill! It was all just staged really - promise

I really need to take on board the message "less is more" but I just can't stop adding things - if you count the big star I made as part of the background, there are about 26 stars on this layout

 And here's the inspiration...
I started with a wash of Prima watercolour pastels, then added a bit more definition with a Tim Holtz crayon. I then added the brads (I wanted some more blingy ones but didn't have enough, so gold it was), then wound the gold thread around until I was happy with the design.
The chipboard stars are embossed with some of my favourite Blue Fern colours, and then it was just add a bow, title, journalling, and twenty something star sequins lol.

Hope you like it!

Hello SunShine

Another page in mainly using the Hello Sunshine collection from Cocoa Vanilla - it's just so great for these sort of days!

This was just a hot summer day with nothing better to do - so I took the Shiloh and her friend Shanae out to the lake at Pegasus for a dip.

As well as the Cocoa Vanilla papers, flowers, puffy stickers, diecuts, wood veneers, and flair which are available at The Paper Teapot here, I also used a Heidi Swapp stamp, Doodlebug doily, Freckled Fawn arrow and an Amy Tan enamel heart. The hashtag and heart diecuts are from Kaisercraft.

As it I write this it's piddling down outside - just the right sort of weather to scrap sunny days!

Hope you like it - please share and comment if you do :)

Geek Girl

This kid cracks me up!

And she was even happy for me to take the photos....

Nothing else to be said really lol

The paper I used in this one is Amy Tangerine from American Crafts, the arrows are by Freckled Fawn, the washi is from Typo, the letters are Thickers and Doodlebug, and the wood veneer is from Papervine. I also used a Kaisercraft stencil and Tim Holtz ink.

Leave me a comment if you like the page, and share it as much as you like!

A Family is a Gift....

Well the title of this page may be pretty cheesy, but the sentiment behind it is true.

We all got together for Bronwyn and Andy's wedding in 2010, it was a fabulous day at Markovina Vineyard, plenty of laughter, with the bonus of croquet and petanque onsite too.

Congratulations Br-Andy :)

This is also using Kaisercraft's Provincial papers for The Paper Teapot design team and collectables (available here), WOW chipboard, Prima packaging, thread, Maggie Holmes bow, Amy Tan mini doily, Cocoa Vanilla flair, Jillibean Soup wire word, Tim Holtz distress ink, Papervine washi, Scrapaholics self-adhesive Baroque tape and The Paper Teapot flowers.

Better the Devil we know...

We don't really celebrate Halloween, especially as it's also Marks birthday but last year the girls all got together to go Trick or Treating and were right into it.

I used Amy Tan patterned paper, Papervine Washi Tape, Stickles, Glimmermist, Kaisercraft Stamps: Jolee's Boutique embellies and Jillibean soup wood veneers, plus a Maggie Holmes doily.

The sketch was an old one from Sketchablities.

Thanks for looking, leave a comment if you like it.

Today

Just one of those candid moments hanging out with Shiloh and her bestie. A Teacher Only Day from school, May sunshine, yummy food courtesy of The Rock Café in Sumner.

Its a "Just Because" page, no challenges, no trying new products, just getting it done :)

I had said to myself I wasn't going to use any arty products on this page, but I just couldn't help myself...lol. And I love Amy Tangerine papers for the "everyday" pages. All I added was a MAMBI transparency, some wooden veneers, washi and a few sequins to finish.

{Love this} Biker Chick

I've got to say I was more than a bit nervous when Bre wanted to take Flossie out for the first time this summer. I paced round and round the driveway for a couple of minutes then went and got my camera and waited for her. And waited. And waited some more. I think she took the scenic route on purpose. Finally she arrived home with a big grin, and has taken her out again a few times since.

I loved playing with this layout - probably the only chance I'll ever get to use pink on a layout with number one daughter!

I used the March sketch from Stuck?! Sketchs - I just love the multi photo sketches as you can tell a whole story in the pictures. Here's the sketch

I started off with a home made stencil and some texture paste mixed with acrylic paint. The patterned paper is an old favourite Amy Tangerine from American Crafts. The chipboard and wood veneers are WOW, and the flair is from Paper Vine. I've been waiting to use that little pink scooter sticker for about 5 years, and good grief - there's also vellum, left behind from when I used to use it on nearly every single layout!

Hope you like it!
